Baby and Booster Seat Details

Child Restraints

By law in New Zealand all children under eight years of age must be in an "approved" child restraint. An adult safety belt is not considered to be a suitable restraint for a child under five. An "approved" restraint is one which is suitable for the age, size and weight of the child.

Path Finder
There are two Path Finder models, both with different layouts.
For the Path Finder 2+1 the child seat is to be fitted in the middle seat in the driver’s cab.  Due to this being a tight fit, we recommend that a 4+1 Pathfinder Finder is considered when travelling with a small child for space.
For the 4+1 Path Finder, two child seats can be fitted in the rear dining area with a diagonal seatbelt and tether clip and one can be fitted in the middle seat of the driver's cab.

Path Seeker
Baby seats cannot travel in these vehicles due to front passenger airbags

Path Escape
This vehicle has positioning for a total of four child restraints.  They are fitted in the rear dining area and are sideward facing with lap belts and tether clip.

Path Explorer
This vehicle has positioning for a total of four child restraints. Two baby seats (three years and under) can be fitted to the rear forward facing seat with a baby bolt. OR four booster seats (minimum four years of age) can be fitted to the rear dinette seat with a lap-sash belt.

Not all Freedom vehicles can accommodate all types of child restraint equipment.
